Michaela is one of those models who doesn't even seem to be trying to model for pictures... We've worked with each other x4 times now and it always seems to be effortless and natural for her! She just does it!

I touched on the subject of having a connection with your subject back in July (Here) and I still can't express the importance in this... When ever we shoot I will of course let Michaela know what I want to achieve and she always brings her 'A game'... Everytime!

She know's my style and I think the way we both work reflects in the work and art we create.

This particular shoot, I'd discussed how I just want to create some very classic black and white portraits. Nothing fancy just simple portraiture at its best. These are by far my most favourite shoots to do... No fancy lighting, make up etc... Just keep it simple and true!

While most of the pictures are black and white, some had to stay colour, the light just worked so well!

I've gone full circle with my portrait work... When I started I just using ambient light as most do... then came strobes... Multiple strobes...  and that's great however it takes time, can get complicated... and you lose that connection with the model because you're constantly thinking about the lighting.... If I need to, I will just use continuous lighting to so I don't have to worry about it so much but as much as I can I will be sticking to ambient light... Natural light, however you label it... It suits my style perfectly!

Cheers!
